They (narcissists) have no empathy (perhaps no or low oxytocin from a dysfunctional hypothalamus) so they can’t change so you will always be considered wrong. Expecting a narcissist to change is irrational and creates frustration.

Oxytocin is associated with trust, sexual arousal and relationship building, it’s sometimes referred to as the “love hormone” or “cuddle chemical.” Oxytocin levels also increase when you’re hugging someone and when you’re experiencing an orgasm. Often, people look at screens and experience orgasm.

For many, seeing another person in pain and responding with indifference or even outright hostility seems utterly incomprehensible.

This was my experience of my surviving parent and older siblings when I was growing up: indifference (abandonment and refocus onto them) which led to a lot of manipulation by fear, obligation and guilt from my parent and outright hostility and competition from my siblings. And still does to this day.

The incomprehensibility of this led me to the library at an early age, initially for like-minded support and companionship of books and eventually as a lifelong enjoyable artistic pursuit. I could not fathom at an age for example, when one discovers sex that no one was allowed to discuss it, that it was viewed as wrong and dirty and disgusting. So, I went to the library where I wasn’t judged for the books I took out and got ‘Everything a Boy Should Know About Sex’, by a doctor explaining the normal and healthy changes going on in me.

This incomprehensibility continues to this day when Puritan America controls social media channels such as YouTube and Facebook, to disallow the nude human body presentations as sexual and therefore wrong. It requires empathy to see the inherent physical beauty in everything from the artists handmade mark to the photo of the breast or erect phallus. Trump called breast feeding disgusting as it is the epitome of that which the narcissist can’t comprehend: empathy.

They hate us for our empathy because it makes them look bad. Better to have a soiled solid gold toilet because aesthetics are the moon to the narcissist. Thats why they prefer marketing strategies, one-upmanship, killing the competition and monopoly as opposed to diversity and acceptance. This isn’t a normal preference but a consequence of actual physical damage that is so far untreatable and is just beginning to be understood.

The consequences of narcissism (lack of empathy) are terrorism, fascism, religion, cults, nationalism and eugenics just to name a few.
