Intense feelings of loneliness and the fear of the unknown when in times of healing from trauma

Why You Feel Lonely Healing From Trauma Annie Tanasugarn, PhD Psychologist. Certified Trauma & Relationship Specialist.

I developed a deep sense of feeling out of sorts with others when a lack of belongingness or social isolation are experienced.

healing from childhood attachment trauma, neglect or abuse

loneliness is rooted in feeling misunderstood or ostracized, feeling lonely can be triggered within the healing process when core wounds surface, which can further reinforce feeling unwanted or not accepted for who you are.

we wrongly bought into our caregiver’s pain as our baggage to carry.

We cannot heal in the same environment that traumatized us.

We have to be willing to navigate through the loneliness, to give ourselves closure. And, through the process, we learn to redefine loneliness as the solitude that comes with re-prioritizing our lives, our goals, and our relationship needs.

One of the best aids I’ve found to navigate through the loneliness was ‘Intimate Connections’ by Dr. David Burns,
He surprised me by prescribing quality alone time, building a friendship with myself, buying myself flowers, cooking myself a good meal, treating myself with respect, by walking away from toxic toxic relationships.
